Spring 2017 Final GMB: Professor Mitragotri’s “Last Lecture”

Samir MitragotriUCSB AIChE would like to invite you to our final general body meeting of spring quarter!

Dr. Samir Mitragotri, one of our distinguished chemical engineering faculty members who will soon be leaving UCSB, is going to give a “final talk.” It will be about the amazing things he has done at UCSB, his favorite memories here, and any last advice he would like to give us.

Lunch with Faculty

AIChE will be hosting a luncheon for students to meet and talk with professors over a meal.

You will be able to choose tables with professors they are particularly interested in, and there will be at least one rotation of seating to make sure everyone can have the chance to sit with their preferred professors.

Menu items include vegetarian and vegan options as well as cookies and fresh lemonade!

Microdyn-Nadir (TriSep) Plant Tour

Microdyn-Nadir was formally known as TriSep before being acquired by Microdyn-Nadir in September.

Both Microdyn-Nadir and TriSep specialize in membrane and filtration technology such as reverse osmosis and microfiltration membrane elements.

The facility is located in Goleta within biking distance of UCSB.

Amgen Info Session

Representatives from Amgen will be giving an info session about Amgen, a biopharmaceutical company with its headquarters in Thousand Oaks, California.

Amgen is the world’s largest independent biotechnology firm.

Genentech Information Session

Genentech Campus Ambassadors Melina Robinson and Connor Salvo will be giving a presentation about opportunities in Genentech and the biotech industry. The Campus Ambassadors program is designed to help students learn about working in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, specifically jobs and internships in Genentech.

Genentech is a research based biotech company in South San Francisco as well as manufacturing facilities in Vacaville, California; Oceanside, California; and Hillsboro, Oregon.
