Rachel is a fourth year chemical engineering student from San Jose, California. She transferred into Chemical Engineering from Ecology and Evolution the summer after her freshmen year because she was interested in engineering solutions to environmental problems she had learned about in her AP Environmental Science class in high school. Since then, she has shifted gears and gotten involved in Arnab Mukherjee’s lab, where she does bioengineering and studies anaerobic fluorescent proteins, and she loves it! Outside of class, Rachel loves going to the beach and traveling.
