Eric is a third year chemical engineering student from Shanghai, China who is currently taking a gap year at home. He did renewable energy research in Professor McFarland’s group on catalytic design for methane pyrolysis reaction to produce carbon-free hydrogen. He is interested in bringing his skill in engineering to broader disciplines and his career goal would be to get involved in strategic planning / consulting. Outside ChemE, he loves travelling as well as playing the piano and guitar, and he said his goal was to be the best pianist among the engineers and the one who can do the best material balances among musicians.
Ginny is a third year chemical engineering student from Redlands, California. Ginny took an year off university to pursue a co-op at HRL laboratories and explore her interest outside of chemical engineering such as sustainable architecture, design, and travel. She is passionate about helping other students understand chemical engineering as a career and providing them with the resources to explore their interests. After graduation she wants to find a career in the intersection between engineering and design. Outside of school you can find her either out exploring new places or spending a quiet afternoon with her paint and canvas.
Internal Vice President
Michael Xing is a third year chemical engineering major from Nanjing, China. He is currently doing research in Professor Sauret’s lab on simulating velocity profiles for capillary suspensions about fluid mechanics. He is also interested in environmental engineering and materials. He loves playing basketball, the guitar in his spare time, and he wants to form a band in the future.
Yu Ling Zeng
Yu Ling is a second year chemical engineering major from Montreal, Canada. Her inspiration for going into this major was her love for science and problem solving. While she does not know what direction her major will take her, she is open to the opportunities that are to come. Some of her hobbies include roller blading and watercolor painting.
Dylan is a second-year chemical engineering major from Rancho Cordova, California. He is interested in the fields of bioengineering/biomedical engineering as well as space exploration and hopes to find an intersection among these fields and Chemical Engineering. Currently, he interns for Vascular Biosciences and is participating in the 2020-2021 NASA Big Ideas Challenge under Dr. Lubin. When he is free, he enjoys playing games with friends such as League of Legends and designing projects on CAD to 3D print once he gets a printer.
Abhiram is a second year chemical engineering major from Fremont, California. He is looking to pursue the electronics field of the 5-year BS/MS Materials program at UCSB. Driven by a passion to optimize energy usage, he is interested in the intersection of material science and energy efficiency of small-scale electronics. He currently conducts research with the Gordon Lab on optically characterizing and analyzing emission of III-Nitride semiconductor materials. Outside of academics, he enjoys folding Origami and speedsolving various Rubik’s cubes.
Media Chair / Webmaster
Stephanie is a second year chemical engineering major from Cerritos, CA. Her main interests lie in bioengineering—she enjoys learning about how biological systems can play a role in production or inspire other materials. She is currently participating in research with membrane remodeling virtually with the Takatori lab. In her spare time, she enjoys going on walks, gardening, and reading (and is always up for discussing speculative fiction).
Eugene Li is a third year chemical engineering major from Taiwan. He currently conducts research with Professor Stucky’s lab and is interested in organic/inorganic interface chemistry. He plans to apply for graduate school next year. Some hobbies outside of chemical engineering include basketball and badminton.
Atlan is a third year chemical engineering transfer student from Thousand Oaks, California. He is interested in learning more about the biotech field within chemical engineering. Over the summer, he spent his time interning at a pharmaceutical company which gave him an introduction into the technical aspects of chemical engineering. Atlan loves the outdoors. He loves finding new hobbies and exploring new passions.
Andrew is a first year chemical engineering student from Pleasanton, California. Currently, he is interested in learning more about the broad field of what chemical engineering has to offer! Some hobbies outside of chemical engineering include tennis, basketball, and video games, and he is excited to be one of your freshman representatives for this year!
Nga Ngo is a first year chemical engineering major from San Jose, CA. She is currently interested in the field of bioengineering all while keeping her mind open to other subdisciplines within chemical engineering. Outside of school, she enjoys painting, reading conspiracy theories, learning languages, going on walks, and baking.
