The AIChE Western Region Conference is a yearly gathering of students from colleges and universities across the Western United States to foster community and engagement within the world of chemical engineering. This event provides opportunities for students from different AIChE chapters to network and compete with each other. For all teams planning to compete in the upcoming Chem-E Car competition at WRC 2026, we ask that you complete the following:<\/p>

  1. Please download a copy of the certificate of completion from your AIChE Chem-E-Car Safety Training (found here: link<\/strong><\/a><\/span>)<\/li>
  2. All team members must sign the linked Chemical Hygeine Plan<\/span><\/a><\/strong>. Please leave the \u201cPI\/Laboratory Supervisor\u201d section blank.<\/li>
  3. Complete an SOP, signed by the PI\/lab supervisor and all involved workers, for corrosives and other chemicals involved in the development of your car(s). A UCSB approved SOP template for different classes of chemicals can be found here: https:\/\/www.ehs.ucsb.edu\/programs-services\/lab-safety-chemical-hygiene\/sops<\/span><\/strong><\/a>. You must use an SOP with UCSB approved language.<\/li><\/ol>

    When you have completed all three of these items, please upload all documents to this Google Form: https:\/\/forms.gle\/m7Yw9vmPq4cRQxCQ8<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0by April 11th.<\/strong><\/p>

    As hotel reservations in the Santa Barbara\/Goleta area will fill up quickly, we recommend that attendees plan their travel accommodations 1-2 months in advance<\/strong>.<\/p>

    Several local hotels have blocked off rooms to provide accommodations for students traveling to Santa Barbara for WRC ’26. The details provided below are based on room block agreements set up to ensure housing availability for attendees, and AIChE @ UCSB does not profit off any bookings made using these agreements.     The deadline to secure room reservations is April 10, 2026. The last day to make any modifications or cancellations is three days prior to the arrival date. Any rooms not cancelled by the end of business on April 21, 2026 will be subject to a no show charge of the first night room and tax.\u00a0<\/p>
